CENTRAL LINK LIGHT RAIL
A Very Large Shovel

It is approximately a four-mile run through the Rainier Valley, with most of it at street level in the reserved median of Martin Luther King Jr. Way S.  Trains are restricted to street traffic speeds, and traffic signals are prioritized for rail movements.  There are three surface stations along this portion of the route.

Sound Transit is proud of its public art, and each station area has some distinct feature or features to it.  Near the north end of Columbia City Station, this 36-foot tall implement is entitled "Global Garden Shovel" by Victoria Fuller.  On first viewing, at least to this observer, it is a bit of a shock to the senses.
