SAN FRANCISCO LIGHT RAIL
Turning South

Several blocks short of the Pacific the L-Taraval executes a turn to leave Taraval St.  It then heads down 46th Ave. to reach the final stop.  This photo is from some years ago, and shows a Boeing-Vertol car -- a model no longer in service.

Until 1937 the line continued straight on Taraval for several blocks until it reached its former terminal just short of the Pacific.  The extension three very long blocks to the south represents an instance of rare route expansion during a time when lines and entire systems were being abandoned coast to coast.
