SAN FRANCISCO LIGHT RAIL
In the Cut

This photo is along the newer portion of the J-Church route in an area known as the Bernal Cut.  In San Francisco's early railroad history, the long-gone predecessor route to today's CalTrain commuter line carried the Southern Pacific through here.

Light rail uses reserved running in the middle of San Jose Ave. in this vicinity.  The stop at Glen Park has a certain forlorn isolation to it.  BART, underground, runs on a close-by and generally parallel route, but there is nothing at the Muni station to indicate that one of the other system's city stations is below, just to the right of the stairway.
