City center is not far off in this view along NW
10th Ave. Part of the downtown skyline --
which is not an overly impressive one -- is in the background.
W. Burnside St., a couple of blocks ahead, marks the dividing line between
the Northwest and Southwest quadrants of the city. A bit beyond
Burnside, at SW Stark St., 10th and 11th execute a bend.
To the north, where the camera is, the streets run in cardinal directions.
Through the heart of Portland all the numbered avenues are skewed to the
southwest, parallel to a stretch of the Willamette River. That curve
on 10th is apparent
by the angle of the building in the distance. |
