This view from during the line's first year of operation
shows a car just about turn off NW 23rd Ave. onto NW Lovejoy St. Although the streets
the tracks are laid upon are in some
cases two-way, the rails never run together along the same blocks until
beyond Portland State, on the far-southern portion of the line.
This area of the city contains much vitality,
including a major hospital, some lovely old homes, new residential and
commercial development, and numerous restaurants and other enterprises,
funky and otherwise -- many in old buildings along the neighborhood's streets. |
