A Yellow Line train heads off several blocks ahead, soon
to turn to the right, as it moves closer to Steel Bridge. The very
distinctive clock tower of Union Station rises over SW 6th Ave.
Tree leaves have
turned or are turning. Thousands lie along the curbs and on
the sidewalks. It remains gray out in this midday scene; but a half-hour or so
later general sunshine will prevail across this part of Portland, and the
surroundings will become quite lovely and inviting. |
