Future Turnaround

Switches are in place in this 2008 construction view at the southern turnaround area beyond Portland State University.  Three tracks will serve the loop when it enters operation the next year.

Current planning takes MAX out on a vector beyond here, across the Willamette River on a new span (the first river crossing away from Steel Bridge), and then down to the suburb of Milwaukie.  Such a new service would likely end inbound along the Portland Mall near Union Station, and may well be dubbed the Orange Line.
