Even in a city relatively new to a return to urban
electric rail transit,
history develops, and photographs are taken of scenes that can nevermore be
even approximately duplicated.
This view from 2008 is at Skidmore
Fountain. The photographer was on board a Vintage Trolley, heading
back toward Steel Bridge and the Eastside -- a route it no longer services.
There was a Yellow Line train on the other track, also on a route no longer
utilized. Children are on the sidewalk beyond. What may
they be able to see in the Portland area, one day decades ahead? What may they know of the
transit scene of their childhoods
past? |
