NEWARK LIGHT RAIL
Station and Overpass

Stations come frequently along the entire length of the City Subway.  Several are located below street-level, with overpasses nearby.  An inbound train prepares to board passengers on a May morning in this scene.

Like many of the continent's newer light rail systems, the Newark City Subway requires the casual user to buy a machine-dispensed, time-validated ticket before boarding.  All passengers are subject to spot-checking.  The regular fare is a modest $1.35.  The old manned collection area up the stairs at Penn Station has been turned into an interesting art project.
