The scenery on the lower part of the Riverfront
Line is not highly exciting, as may be gleaned from this view.
The two tracks to the right belong to the streetcar. The other
one handles not infrequent freight traffic along the New Orleans Public
Belt Railroad. That line has a couple of distinctions,
including the fact that it is indeed publicly owned, by the city of
New Orleans, and it owns the mammoth Huey P. Long Bridge, a joint
railroad and highway structure some miles upriver.
The route identifier for this car seems highly inelegant and temporary. |
