All signals were indeed red -- very red -- this sunny November afternoon
in Pasadena, and the Gold Line's rails were uncharacteristically rusty. Metro's entire
network,
all modes, was shut down by a mechanics'
strike; it was a strike that lasted for weeks.
And it was a major
hardship for those who relied on the system. And it was not at all a
pleasant experience for
this photographer, for whom the main purpose of this trip to Southern
California had been to ride and document the then quite-new route. |
