HUDSON-BERGEN LIGHT RAIL
Weehawken Tunnel Heritage

Outside the Tonnelle Ave. terminal in North Bergen Township there is a marker providing much detail about the history of the Weehawken Tunnel.  The last passenger train ran through it in 1959, and its final freight use by Conrail occurred in 2001.

Unlike the other three terminals on the Hudson-Bergen system, trains at this station use a loop to switch directions.  The station is in a rather nondescript area, and was not intended to be the final stop along this route; the line has yet to achieve reaching Bergen County.
