Shortly after leaving Hoboken Terminal on the
longer of the two routes calling there, Bayonne trains head along a
brief elevated portion. There is a "T" junction along this stretch, which our
train is utilizing to head to the left, and south. An
approaching unit bound for Hoboken is partially in view at the left edge of the
photo.
The route down to Exchange Pl. is similar to, but a bit less direct
than, that taken by PATH,
underground. The subway has one intermediate station, at similarly named
Pavonia/Newport. Light rail has two additional stations along the way: Harsimus Cove and Harborside.
