This wheels of this southbound train are causing
some spray as it passes along the block between McKinney and
Lamar. The monument parallel to the tracks on the right
commemorates this area, known as "The Water Screen." An inscription
near its top reads, all in capital letters, "As we build our city
let us think we are building forever."
The original intention was that water would actually shoot jets
arching above passing trains. The concept was abandoned when
it was deemed to be too distracting for train operators, and for nearby
motorists. |
