DALLAS LIGHT RAIL
Maximum Speed: 65

The speed limit leaving Garland is 65 MPH, highest on the system; it remains that way much of the way to Mockingbird.  If one stands at the rear of the train one can keep track of speed on the working instrument in the cab.  The trains do in fact adhere to just that limit when the zone permits and the signals are green.

The right of way in Garland is along former Katy/UP trackage.  A freight line still serves Garland, with its small station visible to the left of the signal.  The current operator is the Dallas, Garland and Northeastern Railroad.
