The speed limit leaving Garland is 65 MPH,
highest on the system; it remains that way much of the way to
Mockingbird. If one stands at the rear of the train one can
keep track of speed on the working instrument in the cab.
The trains do in fact adhere to just that limit when the zone
permits and the signals are green.
The right of way in Garland is along
former Katy/UP trackage. A freight line still serves Garland,
with its small station visible to the left of the signal.
