The short Mattapan-Ashmont line, also known as
the Mattapan High Speed Line, is in an
off-the-beaten-path (for the tourist) part of the urban area.
There are six intermediate stations between the two terminals.
It is not connected with, nor does it
intersect, the rest of the light rail network.
Rare among all of the lines operating in the country, the route
still features those wonderful old PCC trolleys, rebuilt as necessary.
The right of way would not support the weight of today's Green Line LRVs, and
thus there is no anticipation that any other kind of vehicle will be running along
here in the foreseeable future. |
