BALTIMORE LIGHT RAIL
South of Downtown

Much of the southern section of the MTA Light Rail is built along right of way of a rail predecessor, and one with a rich electrified heritage at that.  The Washington, Baltimore & Annapolis interurban and successors carried passengers until 1950, and the route remained in diesel freight service until MTA acquisition and rebuilding.  The line continues to carry freight at hours when the light rail isn't running.
