Car #454 is another Melbourne trolley, and one
that saw intermediate service in New Orleans. There is no
air-conditioning on the cars, and on a summer day units such as this
one
can be operated with windows wide open. Signs inside warn the
rider to keep arms and heads inside. It's something immensely
old-fashioned and appealing, and is fine for the intrepid
photographer.
Much on the rebuilt trolleys has been modified for current use. The cars bear
half-pantographs, not old-style poles. The height of the center
entrance is bridged with steps that unfold and refold at each stop.
But the overall feel is properly historic, and the ride is fun. |
