PATH HEAVY RAIL
Passaic River Bridges

Two massive drawbridges over the Passaic River have long been a landmark for rail passengers traveling between Manhattan and Newark.  PATH uses the bridge to the left, with a third track on that structure for eastbound Amtrak and NJ Transit use.  The right-hand structure also has three sets of rails, and is in heavy use by Amtrak and NJ Transit.  In this view a diesel-led commuter train is heading for the bridge and for the stop at Newark's Penn Station.
