Each Montreal line is assigned a number
and a color name. Two routes are
fairly long, and include sections that run more or less parallel several
blocks apart and generally east-west under downtown. A shorter line
runs north of Mont-Royal without reaching center city. And the shortest
line heads from the major Berri-UQAM transfer point downtown under the St.
Lawrence River (Fleuve Saint-Laurent) just two stations out to Longueuil.
