CHICAGO HEAVY RAIL
On the Ground in Wilmette

It was evening on a very cloudy, gloomy September day.  But for anyone who savors rapid transit -- notwithstanding the  dim light and the prospect of a dull and shaky image -- who could pass up the opportunity for a photo of a train crossing a quiet residential street at grade, particularly when one hadn't been this way in decades?  I remember being delighted that it was pretty much the way I remembered it to be.

This is not far from the final stop on the Purple Line in Wilmette.
