Other than at peak times all three routes serving Howard end there. The Red Line arrives
from the South Side by way of the State St. subway under downtown.
Passengers continuing north must wait along the often-crowded platform for
the Purple Line up to Linden or for the Yellow "Skokie Swift" service,
which goes one very long
stop along the former North Shore interurban right of way.
