CHICAGO HEAVY RAIL
Along the River

CTA crosses the Chicago River or its branch on two bridges near the Loop.  Brown and Purple Line trains to and from the north use the Wells St. bridge, shown here.  Green Line trains to and from the west use the bridge over Lake St.

In this view buildings of various vintages line the river.  Those to the right of the water are lined up along Wacker Dr.  To the left, one of the two rounded towers of Marina City, a tall apartment complex considered highly innovative in the 1960s, is mostly visible.  There is a tremendous amount of new construction and renovation going on in this part of the city.
