As is often the case in Boston, trains continue beyond
the last stop to reverse direction. A single platform allows for the
passenger easily to double back, for those who happen to enjoy riding
around on subway lines.
Different parts of the Orange Line are adjacent to other passenger
rail activity -- one local "T" commuter route, and two joint
Amtrak-commuter routes.
Most of the Orange Line reconstruction to
the north was built alongside existing Boston and Maine railroad right of way. The
headlight of a Boston-bound commuter train is barely visible in the
distance. |
