BAY AREA HEAVY RAIL
Castro Valley

This photo is from a rainy February afternoon at the Castro Valley station in Alameda County.  This train has originated one stop further east, at Dublin/ Pleasanton. It's only a single station away, but it's quite a run.  The distance between the two stops is about ten miles, surely the longest ride between stations on any U.S. urban rail system.

But the gap is being lessened.  A new West Dublin/Pleasanton station is under construction, another one of those latter-day public private partnerships.
