BAY AREA HEAVY RAIL
From AirBART

Unlike those of the majority of other cities with heavy rail transit the transit agency that operates BART does not also operate a substantial bus network.  Instead BART interchanges with the local systems provided by such agencies as Muni, AC Transit and SamTrans at virtually all of its stations.

The one bus route that is BART-operated connects the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station with Oakland International Airport, several miles away.  There are no intermediate stops.  It costs $3.00 to ride, whether or not one uses the rail route.  This view is from inside a bus near that train station, and shows an outbound run traveling along the single-pier overhead structure.

A future project will eliminate the bus, to be replaced by an elevated people-mover.
