Here are examples of four of my more colorful covers from oil company-issued maps
issued during the period 1925-1930.
These are not my oldest
maps, but I have a fondness for for the covers -- just the same kind of allure that there was when I used to collect old Dell comic books in Brooklyn back in the fifties. The contents were always fun,
but it was the attraction of the covers that really thrilled
me. My fascination with road history is quite strong, but -- the covers. The covers!
