ST. LOUIS LIGHT RAIL
Convention Center

This series begins with an overview consisting of ten or so photos taken at key or representative locations on MetroLink.  It then settles down to explore the system from west to east along the Red Line, and after that it provides a few photos from the newer Blue Line along the separate portion of its route.

St. Louis was able to utilize abandoned railroad tunnels for light rail to move under much of the downtown area.  These passages date to the Eads Bridge project of the 1870s, and thus in its own way this short section may be the oldest subway in operation on urban rail in the U.S.A.

This photo is at the Convention Center station, one of the two stops that are under the central business district.  The other station is at 8th & Pine.
