ST. LOUIS LIGHT RAIL
A Variety of Landscapes

MetroLink affords the viewing of a variety of landscapes.  Much of the Red Line to the west of the city, and also to the east in Illinois beyond the heart of East St. Louis, is bordered with trees and brush on both sides, in settings which seem almost semi-rural.  In St. Louis itself there are portions where the sights include still-great scenes of industry and nearby major railroad activity, but there is not too much evidence of the nearby neighborhoods.  The city of East St. Louis provides some rather gritty urban vistas.

In this view a westbound train has left UM-St. Louis South, one of two stations serving this campus of the University of Missouri, and the fourth station inbound from Lambert Airport Main.
