SAN FRANCISCO LIGHT RAIL
Nostalgia for an Earlier Era

To those who grew up with the PCC car in the 1950s there will never be anything better -- whether it's older, newer, bigger, or whatever else.  The PCCs defined our introduction to the trolley era, and the nostalgia for them is intense.  San Francisco used these cars for its regular service into the very late 1970s and early 1980s.

This photo, taken in the mid-1970s, is a view at the then-southern end of the J-Church, at 30th St.
