Downtown streets south of Market run parallel and
perpendicular to it. North of Market, the streets are more on a
north-south, east-west basis. This presents a number of complex
intersections along Market. In this view 6th St. is behind the camera,
and Golden Gate Ave. and Taylor St. are on the other side of the
streetcar. There are very few "avenues" in the downtown area.
