Car 130, from Jewett Car Co., saw service in San
Francisco from 1914 until 1958 -- well over forty years. There are
those who remember these units, known as "Iron Monsters," with
likely the same kind of fondness that I feel for the PCCs.
As has been seen in some of the other sections in this series, the
broadcasting tower atop Mt. Sutro leaves a prominent mark on the
city's landscape. |
