The are indeed few -- if any -- other locations in the United
States where parallel surface electric rail tracks cross another set
at grade. Church and Market Sts. in San Francisco is
such a place.
An F-line streetcar heading for Fisherman's Wharf has just crossed
Church in this view. Before long an Embarcadero-bound J-Church train will
approach from the south. The subway
carries four other light rail routes below Market, and there is a station located
here.
The original portal for the Twin Peaks Tunnel -- prior to the subway -- was
located a bit out of view to the right. |
