Evidence of freight activity is quite obvious in this
view taken not far from
El Cajon Transit Center. Freight service is operated in the overnight
hours by the San Diego and Imperial Valley Railroad.
The character of the line for this mile or so is different
from elsewhere along its
route, with newer industrial sites predominating, and with no feel for
"neighborhood."
Haze and
stark, distant mountains ahead typify much of Southern California during the
warmer parts of the year. |
