An examination of Portland street maps from before the
Interstate Highway era shows that two corridors carried through traffic
between Portland and Vancouver, Washington. N Interstate Ave. was the
major route for one of these arteries, then identified as U.S. 99W. To this day a number of older motels are
operating along the artery.
