An inbound train is several blocks away from the E 148th
Ave. station in this view. The transit signal on the pole between
the tracks on the far side of the crossing is in the "--" position.
This indicates that trains
are not cleared to cross the street. The closer approach of the
train will cause conflicting highway traffic signals to turn to red, and
the train will then be authorized to pass on a priority basis.
There are eight stops along E Burnside St. By the eastern end of that portion, Burnside has become a very
busy thoroughfare, and the feel of the route is very different from that
