Trains are waiting on both tracks at the Airport
station shortly after the line began service in 2001.  The opening was
just one day before that fateful Tuesday of September 11th, and
events completely unforeseen impacted the line's early patronage,
and the development of much available land near the facility.

	The destination signs
show City Center, where trains terminated during the early years of the Red Line.   Later on the route was
extended westward through the Robertson Tunnel to its current terminal, Beaverton Transit
	Center.   |
