The signal is red as an inbound train has just
passed by on this twisting stretch of the joint right of way in Castle
Shannon. Not too far ahead this train will curve off to the
left and onto the Beechview route, but it is one of the very few
trains each weekday that later on will take to the hill-climbing 52 Allentown line, rather than
using the Mt. Washington Transit Tunnel, to get to Panhandle Bridge
and downtown.
