The Steel Plaza subway station was originally
designated to be called Midtown in the 1980s transformation of service downtown.
There are four platform areas, but the tracks for the Penn Station
line -- which run in the the cut below the platforms in
the distance -- see no passenger activity. Warmly colored panels of light
add a nice touch at various points in the subway complex here.
Travel solely within the three subway stations downtown is fare-free. |
