PITTSBURGH LIGHT RAIL
Castle Shannon, Many Wires

When Pittsburgh's light rail network was transformed in the 1980s it was rebuilt with rather massive power poles and overhead wire construction.  The pole in this view near Castle Shannon carries the overhead power for just one direction of travel.  Some transit observers considered the work to be engineering overkill, and few people of any kind would likely find it aesthetically appealing.  The train in view will soon reach the junction with the Overbrook line, and then will head out to South Hills Village.
