The terminal architecture at JFK is varied, and
reconstruction is ongoing -- always, it seems. It's an intensely active area, and the
overall feeling for the casual visitor is that of being in someplace
very futuristic, and perhaps also that of being in an environment that is quite unsettling.
All the AirTrain stops are fully enclosed, down to the precise door location for
the cars. The automated trains
glide to each station and halt at the right place so that passengers
are funneled between their train
and the climate-controlled station interiors.
There are likely several possible reasons to account for
why windshield wipers are needed or desired on a system where no employee is responsible for
the safe passage of the cars. |
