NEW ORLEANS STREETCAR
Red Banners

The bright red banners in this scene honor St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and attest that it had been "Celebrating 100 years of ministry in Carrollton" in 2003, although this view is from 2005.  The worn grassy right of way and somewhat uneven rails with no visible ties are distinctly features for New Orleans.  Elsewhere in the country this portion between the two directions of the roadway would likely be called the "median."  In New Orleans it is properly referred to as "neutral ground."
