This scene
returns to the intriguing trackwork along Canal St. that may some day
see a new Desire Streetcar. The proposed route would come
inbound on N. Rampart St., one block ahead, and then utilize the
gauntlet rails shown here on Canal St. until the next turn in its loop,
near the camera at Basin
St. Switches will allow for movement
to and from the outbound Canal Streetcar track.
It was at Rampart St. that once upon a time the four-track section
of Canal St. began heading inbound toward the loop near the
Mississippi River. |
