As it heads from central Jersey City for
Bayonne and West Side Ave., the light rail route shares the way with one-way auto traffic for several blocks along Essex St.
This is one of the very few portions of the Hudson-Bergen system
where train and street traffic are intermixed. This area has
undergone, and continues to undergo, substantial gentrification.
