HUDSON-BERGEN LIGHT RAIL
Former Terminal

Pavonia-Newport had replaced Exchange Pl., Jersey City, as the system's northern terminal by the time of this 2002 photo.  Trains deposited their passengers, then headed onto the overpass and out of sight to switch tracks for the next trip out to Bayonne or West Side Ave.

The vehicle in view here is in the process of returning to begin its southbound run.   These tracks now carry traffic bound for, or coming from, Hoboken Terminal, or Tonnelle Ave. in North Bergen Township.

The PATH station of the same name is a short distance away, in an area dazzling with renewal.   There are good connections for the interstate subway to and from Manhattan not only here, but also at Exchange Pl. in Jersey City, and at Hoboken Terminal.
