DALLAS LIGHT RAIL
Construction Zone

The transit mall ends just past the West End station.  Union Station is a bit off to the left beyond the view of the camera.   The construction visible in this 2003 scene is for the connection for the Northwest Corridor.

One day trains will also turn to the right ahead.  The new Green Line will come from the southeast, and then run through downtown with the two older lines before curving to go as far out to North Carrollton/Frankford along what is called the Northwest Corridor.  Construction is well underway, and the target opening date for the full length, over sixteen miles, is late 2010.  Later on another new route, the Orange Line, coming from downtown, will branch off from the Green at Buckner, and go fourteen miles, out to Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport.
