BOSTON LIGHT RAIL
Into the Portal

From the front window of a Green Line train, this image shows the subway portal just ahead, as our train heads for North Station and then under downtown.  The construction is new and modern, and for whatever has been lost, it is still wonderful to see steel rails and electric current overhead.

The next eleven pages reflect a history from not so long ago, but now forever gone from the Boston mass transit scene.  I am glad that I witnessed it, a visitor from afar.  I saw it more than once, always with great interest.  It is good, I think, that I took some photos.
