Each Metrorail route is identified with a color:
Blue, Red, Orange, Green and Yellow.
The Blue Line, pictured here at Arlington Cemetery, passes through
Virginia, the Capital and Maryland along a route from Franconia-Springfield to Largo
Town Center. This train has just come out of the subway from DC. There
is a mile or so of surface running before the tracks enter another
underground segment.
In this photo trains in both directions are visible; it was a very
rainy day.
Entry and exit from each portal anywhere on the system is accompanied
with a warning toot from the train's horn. |
