CLEVELAND HEAVY RAIL
Crossing River and Lowlands

This photo is out the front window of an eastbound train, and shows the right of way as the line crosses high above the Cuyahoga River and "The Flats" area below.  There are some fine, fine views of the city from this structure.  Unlike most heavy rail lines elsewhere, Cleveland's utilizes above-ground current collection.  The old power infrastructure here dates back to a time of main-line electrification to serve the area around nearby Cleveland Union Terminal.
