BAY AREA HEAVY RAIL
Angles

Pillars, a stairway and escalators provide angular lines in this view at Millbrae Transportation Terminal.  A BART train is at the station, windows wide, awaiting departure for downtown San Francisco and the East Bay.

When this extension opened in 2003 there was initially direct service between Millbrae and downtown during peak times.  Traffic demand did not meet initial projections, and all trains began taking the less direct route that included a stop at San Francisco International Airport, and then some backtracking.  In 2008 that ceased, and trains began running directly again.
